Initial Training & Joining the association
The BLJAofE Training Programme
The Association’s training programme was started in 2007 to bring more people into officiating and to have sufficient numbers of line judges to officiate at the major events on the Badminton England calendar in the years leading up to the Olympics. The programme has been very successful in producing a significant number of new line judges who have gone on to officiate at major events.
Training venues are located in the North West, North East, the Midlands and the South. Training Officers in these areas conduct the courses and also oversee a programme of progressing the trainees through a series of local, regional and national events. Mentoring and assessing is a integral part of this programme.

There are many levels of events that require the services of line judges and these range from local junior age level and senior gold events, to national level junior and senior events, to the English Nationals and the All England. Those with sufficient experience and potential could also be sent to officiate at international championships in Europe.
The regional Training Officers, the National Training Coordinator and the Association Secretary will all give you information about local, regional and national events. You will receive invitations to events that are appropriate to the level you have attained.
